It is nothing short of murder for pay. The media companies are guaranteed to already be selling ad space for it and it will bring in billions. And- we should all know already that the nazi organization known as MAGA have already claimed their share of it.

PLEASE- Do not watch this. Do not let them monetize executions.

This paves the way for judges to issue executions far more frequently and will result in the most colossally vile abuse of our legal system we will ever know.

DO NOT WATCH IT. DO NOT SUPPORT MONETIZING MURDER.

(EDIT: it’s been brought to my attention that people need their hand held so, what I am referring to here is that MAGA is going to use American military and social media to publicly execute someone. Whoever hosted it will absolutely profit from it and there is no way MAGA isn’t also going to take their cut)

There nothing rude about defending one’s self from people being obnoxious.

Dude/Dudette...you're posting to a sub literally called general on an instance called literally lemmy.world and expect everybody to be on the same page what your barbaric and uncultured government is doing?

And then get angry about it?

Who said I’m angry?? What I see is a bunch of angry kids that read something they don’t understand and attacked me because- apparently the onus is on me to hold their hand through the entire thing.

So I added a description of the point and they still bark at me because their country didn’t get the memo.

Who fucking cares?! lol! Then it’s not for them and they can move on! But no!!! It HAS to be something they can consume!

lol. I think it’s funny. Annoying, but still funny.

It is not the subject that is rude, it is your way of presenting it. If you talk down to people, who are genuinely confused, you appear as a jerk, and will get a negative response. Maybe they could have looked it up, yes, but people also want to interact with each other on a discussion platform, which is one reason making them rather ask, what is going on. If you do not want to interact with them - just do not. Other people will usually answer the questions.

I talk to people the way they talk to me. Go ahead and check the comments. I have had some very nice interactions with people here. It’s just the ones that come in being asses about it because I didn’t custom tailor the post to suit their needs or make it relevant specifically to them.

Better yet… Go look at the rest of lemmy. Does it all appeal to you? No? Do you complain to the author of every post because of this? Probably not. But if you did, would you expect a kind response? I hope not.

We all have our biases, and it colors what we see. So when you see me being an ass, you’re seeing it from the side of people who think they’re owed an explanation of everything, and if it doesn’t make sense to them- they get to shit on it.

I was very clear in what I said as many people here fully understood it. And many who didn’t asked without showing their ass about it and got an answer. The rest can gtfo. I’m not here to validate others.

Are you okay? Like, genuinely, is everything alright? I understand it gets frustrating, and lemmy is partly full of jerks, too, but the starter of this specific discussion chain just looks to have asked very casually, what is going on. Your reaction seems very aggressive from this outside perspective. Are people often harassing you here?

I think we should have some compassion for OP who is already angry because of the topic. OP clearly thinks this practice of executing people publicly is very evil and is already mad and so that's impacting all the responses. What about also thanking OP for posting this difficult topic? OP, thanks for posting this. I don't know if I agree with you entirely, but I might, however it's something important to talk about.

I also think about this in the context of a war. And although Christian Nationalism and Islamic Extremism are both terrifying to me, and although the attacker slated to die may or may not have been an extremist, the fact is that there is not a single country out there that is primarily Muslim (50%+) and also has any sort of LGBTQ+ rights.

I'm not saying it justifies this, but I also think this occurs in the context of women in some Islamic countries still being unable to learn things like math and reading. You may wonder, well, why does that mean Christian nationalism and fascism and human rights violations are okay?

And if you think that, that public executions are evil and horrible, then I get that. It's just hard for me to care about someone who was clearly a killer with training and intent when there are LGBT+ people who can't get married and women who can't learn math still and the "unfair war" he was mad about had originally allowed women to learn and get an education. I'm sure war crimes occurred and I'm sure it was horribly managed. And now look: Biden withdrew and now the Taliban doesn't even allow women to add numbers together.

That is the context of these religious maniacs and this situation and this execution. And I don't know what this attacker's views were, if he was just upset about war crimes or if he supported radical Islam. But, what is the appropriate response to radical Islam that, if completely effectuated, would mean women can't learn to read or do math?

I don't want to watch the execution because I believe in human rights for prisoners and this moves the needle in a bad way.

I also highly doubt it will be televised with ad space. I don't think publicly traded companies would want to be associated with this. There is a ton of cruelty and evil in society, including toward the poor and unhoused, but I don't think corporate America is going to touch this with a 10 foot pole. I'd be shocked if I was wrong, and if I am wrong, I'll be terrified and I would probably leave the country out of fear of what happens next.

I just think it's important to remember that there is still a war with radical Islamic jihadism and it's not something that can necessarily be humane. This is also someone who voluntarily signed up for the military. Also death by firing squad with multiple bullets will probably be somewhat quick and not that painful. I agree with you and you're right, but it's also so hard to care when this is a war, and some women aren't allowed to add numbers.

It's also possible I am so angry that some women aren't allowed to read and learn math that I am not looking at this situation clearly and it's more horrible than I realize.
