Excerpt of the executive order https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/09/inaugurating-the-era-of-super-intelligence/ from last week:

The terminology used by the Federal Government should reflect the transformative capabilities of these technologies and the limitless opportunities they create for the American people. Accordingly, the term “Super Intelligence” more appropriately captures the promise, potential, and rapidly advancing capabilities of these technologies. It is therefore the policy of my Administration that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, the executive branch shall use the terms “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” and will not acknowledge the usage of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in any applicable setting.

screenshot of post on truthsocial.com from Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump: The White House considers anyone that uses the term, “Artificial Intelligence,” as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, “Super Intelligence,” THE ENEMY! President DONALD J. TRUMP Oct 08, 2026, 4:14 PM

It's Large Language Models (LLM). You should not call it AI anyway.

LLM is a subfield of a subfield of AI.

What's your point? LLM is still a part of AI.

Yeah, but people think it's Intelligent, which causes issues.

Well, the companies that train them also want you to mistake it for a person, what with "thinking..." and whatnot.

I see your point. Like how the cloud isn't a cloud and a bug in a computer is rarely a real bug.

It's been "AI" for like 70 years now. The term will probably stay.

The language has already moved on.

    * Dislike it all you want, that is the truth.
We don't fight game AI being called AI. Why? Because it's part of the language. Everyone knows what it means and that it's not actually anything intelligent. Explaining LLM to another PM every week instead of just saying AI or gen AI just makes you annoying at this point. Noone cares.
