"Go play outside"

"Play with your toys"

"Do some arts and crafts"

"Listen to an audio book"

"Go read"

... So many ways parents can get a break, this is just the same but different in a more creepy way and using something that sucks up all our resources and takes our jobs.

How is listening to an audio book different than a book in parents voice?

The point is not that the children cannot listen to books but the bonding ritual that is reading to a child. Hearing the stories they like to hear. Having them ask for a specific one. Singing your child to sleep as well - you can still play music but the act of them watching you sing and hearing your voice is important.

Go listen to a Tonee or whatever when you get home from school while I'm making dinner and let your imagination run wild to Gabby's Treehouse audio books but I'm reading Cinderella tonight.

And did this guy say he’s offloading all of that? No. Everyone here is screeching “because AI”.

His partner asked him to read to the baby and he said to her that he didn't want to and that he could train an AI model to replicate his voice so he didn't have to.

She could be a nagging and needy, codependent mess but he still knocked her up and stuck around so when your partner says "Why don't you read to the baby, it'll be cute." You read to the damn baby.

This is all fake and likely words you could only utter on the green text comm, so really, let's not worry about it but this guy did, in his shitpost, say "No, I'd rather not read to my baby." Homeboy checked out before the damn thing could even crawl over to the electrical socket and take the easy way out of being raised by him.

Not "because AI", I just hate people who don't read to their kids... And AI. It's a combination of two things I hate.

If we're just talking about that specifically then actually it might be quite good to have an audio book that uses the parents' voice, if we ignore privacy concerns about cloning your voice.

But the context of the post is saying more than that. They're talking about not spending time with the child and reading to them, which I think most people disagree with. Just as I think most people would disagree with just giving a child an audiobook instead of reading to/with them, irrespective of whose voice is being used

Oh nooooooo a parent took a break and a shortcut? Let’s make 800 assumptions and make up an entire MCU for this man to live in where we can make a million more assumptions that this guy is just abusing this kid.

Y’all have widely taken a tweet out of context and misrepresented ….. because AI.

"Y'all y'all y'all". Who are you even talking to anymore? You realise you're responding to just me?

And your replies don't even make sense. When did I say audio books were the devil? Just screenshot and highlight that part for me...

    Children need parental bonding.

Also, an audio book wont assist in helping the child learn to read.

An audio book does not provide parental bonding time.
An audio book doesn't have words that can be pointed to by a parent.

    Clearer?

Not what I asked. But it’s okay, I’m SURE you’ve been screeching over the dangers of audio books for years 🤣👍

Two differences given, don't know what else you expected.

No, you are trying to move goal posts and put your own additional fanfic where this guy said he’s offloaded total responsibility and never reads to his kids because he has a decent idea to personalize an audio book.

    Entirely invented.
