New polling released today has found strong public support for offshore wind in Scotland – but only alongside strong protections for nature.

The poll found that, while there is strong support for renewable energy, people overwhelmingly expect offshore wind developments to protect wildlife like seabirds.

RSPB Scotland, who commissioned the polling, are calling on the Scottish Government to do a better job of balancing the ambitions for offshore wind expansion with Scotland’s responsibilities as one of the world’s most important places for seabirds.

So everywhere because the net-damage to nature they do, is negative. They are good for the enviorment. People...why so narrow and short sighted!

Oil Rig....risk of damage to environment is near guaranteed.

Wind farm, temporary build problem then decades of power.

It would be nice to know how often parts need to be changed, how long each wind farm lasts and do parts replacements impact the environment.

I can't imagine it being anywhere near the scale of destruction an oil rig does.

It is curtainly guaranteed. The only reason we dig for oil is to burn it. The gas they put up also gets burned instantly. This industry is the driving factor of climat change
