In the continuing race to see who can throw transgender people under the bus most quickly, South Carolina Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Annie Andrews has released a new direct-to-camera campaign ad in which she states that she does not support trans athletes playing in sports that affirm their gender identity.

Trump dubbed Andrews “Annie Trannie” in a social media post Monday and said she favored “Transgender for Everyone.” He also shared a commercial attacking her on transgender issues.

In a direct-to-camera ad, Andrews retorted, “I want you to hear me loud and clear: I don’t support biological men playing women’s sports and I don’t support and haven’t ever performed gender surgery for minors.” As she speaks, text reading “No men in women’s sports” and “No gender surgeries for minors” appears next to her.

With Republicans running the state house and senate, has two republican US senators and six of the seven house delegates are republicans this may be a stance you need to take to have a chance in South Carolina.

  • No one that cares about this is going to be convinced by this remark. It gains nothing. The only response that could possibly convince them is to reject the premise. Stay on message.

'I don't respond to immature internet bullies. No one cares about what they have to say. People are struggling and need Washington to listen to them for once instead of pushing made up culture wars. That's why in this race. I'm running to ensure that Washington spends less time and money bombing children overseas and more time and money helping Americans here at home. Food prices are too high. Home prices are too high. Healthcare prices can't even be defined until after a bill arrives. The American people are tired and want real change, not a continuation of what got us here'
