Microsoft is about to let Copilot loose on your file system

But don't worry, it's totally safe because the agents and models will (probably) be running locally. Routers never break right?

Don't worry, we will just scan your file locally for a better index and search.

You, windows, can't remember my search from 3 seconds ago. Like, you need to search all over again, and index all over again, I thought an index was something used to save time searching? Windows - I index then discard the index as you could have added 100 new files in the 3 seconds since I last searched

what worries me is when then will manage to persuade our, let's say, questionable legislators that allowing average Joe to use a Free/Libre operating system is somehow an unacceptable security threat. For how much longer will they refrain from pushing the narrative that it should be done for, say, the good of the children (and absolutely not to feed their AI ogres)?

Yes, it worries me a lot. They push AI, chat control and digitalize public institution...for economy, for control and geopolitic

I think the internet will be closer to cyberpunk 2077 and end up into a fragmented network to protect our own space. I mean, a new imternet protocol maybe created to escape those crawler and sanitize content.

Maybe something like scuttlebut with server coptation ?

I read that some sysadmins are closing their git to protect their own server. So it is already starting amd i don't know to what extent.
