It's still bs though, pneumonic plague is a non-issue epidemic wise. Plague experts are unanimous that this poses 0 threat of spreading beyond its small local region at worst. The bigger story is the lab safety failures that led to a researcher dying of it.

I don't know about plaugues. I only know every time a government tries to downplay one I get brain foggier. But I believe you, this is the first I'm learning about it.

Yeah there's actually a fair number of people who get the plague every year. Its by no means common, but its also not uncommon either. Its just way more treatable now and less likely to spread very far.
