My last drink was October 6th, 2016. Today will be ten years without. A meaningful milestone for the big round number I think, but just another day on the big scale. A winding and complicated, often messy path with lots of pain and growth, and so many fucking mistakes. Different tools over the years for different times, as situations come and go and the habits start to more closely reflect those of the man I consider myself to be. I have been laid off and I'm not sure whats going to happen from here, but that is okay. Lots of uncertainty about a lot of things, and the injustice of the world only grows, but none of it means I need to drink. It would only make things worse.
Can consider this my small celebration, and silent thanks to the AA meeting where I landed a decade ago. Not sure I could have done it without that work.
