The fact that every kids show is about working together and accepting everyone has made me hyper vigilant to see where the counter propaganda will come in and to be sure i counteract it when it does. Something has to get in there and change it up because the world we live in is not the product of the values in kids media

it's middle school social studies. that's when they start doing the confederate apologia and lying about American history and introducing that Liberal "nuance" we all love (the 'swerve')

In fact, making children media have positive values that they then later subvert is probably on purpose. Every kid wants to grow up and seem mature, and they make sure to tie loving and positive messages about sharing and being pro-social to "baby" media so they can put that away as they mature. The swerve only works if there's a good baseline to subvert and swerve away from

Ok, that is a conspiracy theory I 100% believe in now.

Think of how kids gleefully joked about the atrocities they would do to Barnie, who is a genuinely wholesome dinosaur. Kids wish to murder their baby selves and become a "big kid"

It’s like this one extension I saw from the everyone is twelve meme. I feel like I have to become a kid again reflexively. Like, what do you mean that my “controversial take” is “it is good to be nice and bad to be mean” and “please clean up after yourself!” And “use your manners”?

Or in better words by Tzvi Freeman: “The child naively believes that everything should be fair and everyone should be honest, that only good should prevail, that everybody should have what they want and there should be no pain or sadness. The child believes the world should be perfect and is outraged to discover it is not. And the child is right.”
