While I don't think these designs are, they absolutely have that look to them so I wouldn't be surprised if they came from AI concept art. Nintendo's development is very closed-doors and I have zero doubt that they're heavily using genAI in their pipelines these days.

this is the actual design, but a lot of people have said it reminds them of genai and i think it's because of the excessive detail. it's supposed to resemble a puppet (which is why the threads are huge - normal cloth on a small doll) but it's uncanny in the worst way.
