I agree. Ai is good at churning out code quickly, and can be a helpful tool to speed up production. But without a dev behind it that knows what they're doing the only "quality" control is "does it work? Yep, ship it." Zero understanding of how or why, no ability to maintain the code or make edits.
My partner is a software engineer and describes using it as managing a junior. It'll do the busy work, but you have to check the code, clean it up, and make it actual work in the context of your project.
Personally as a 3D artist, vibe coding annoys the shit out of me. So many helpful looking plugins, none of which work quite right when you install them, and only work on one specific version of blender. No chance of being updated for the new versions, making it pointless to add it to my workflow. And they're charging money for that shit so now I can't even buy plugins that would be useful to me with confidence anymore.
Vibe coded slop will never be as good as human made, no matter how good ai gets if the vibe coder doesn't understand the code.
