They can look at a right winger who says really obviously wrong and hideous shit and point out why it is wrong, it makes them feel smart and moral. But a left winger makes arguments that they can't easily debunk or criticize, and this pushes them dangerously close to self-awareness, so they have to strawman and vilify leftists to protect their ego.
