They don’t have to ditch them; we just need to make energy cheap enough to properly recycle them.

    onsite solvent recycling is a thing, what can't be recycled can be burned for energy. chlorinated solvents require extra energy input because they're less flammable, and extra corrosion resistance is required in equipment used for that
