The attitude of, fuck you others have you worse get over it. Is one of the worst attitudes to have. Lets say somebody is depressed and they vent about their issues. You turning around saying buck up princess, kids in africa are starving does a few things. First, it shows them you are an asshole, it also belittles their own struggles, makes them feel bad for feeling bad and can start - or continue their downward spiral. You don't know what people are dealing with in the real world, or in their own minds. Your lack of empathy is appalling. Depression and bad lives aren't a contest.
