They believe their last leader (currently dead) is going to return from the dead any second now and reveal themselves as the Messiah.

Like when Ben-Gvir came to America, this was the only American Jewish group willing to meet with him.

They're absolutely pieces of shit, but they are not the same as just any random Jewish group, not even representative of the Hasidic population.

Their more a cult than a branch of Judaism at the moment, but the entire movement is only ~200 years old.

Like a Jewish version of Mormons basically.
