All you have to do is spend time on Chinese social media to discover that this sadly isn't true. US PoliSci undergrads are definitely just being steeped in propaganda but teenagers are kind of all the same everywhere. They're tired and they wanna watch some TV and take a nap.

When it comes to political education, most Chinese teens mostly just know basic parts of the curriculum which are tested on. That's mostly national history, some basic terminology, and some national achievements. From talking to both average Chinese and a few committed Communist educators it really seems actual Marxist fundamentals are a subject that doesn't have great knowledge retention compared to math or language skills.
