That bit about the preexisting conditions is bonkers.
"That kid died because they couldn't get any food!"
"Nuh-uh! They had a preexisting condition!"
So, the idea is that because the kid was already sick, we can blame the sickness, not the starvation.
It was the same logic that people tried to use in the early days of the pandemic: supposedly, only people with preexisting conditions died while sick with COVID, therefore...the virus wasn't to blame or something? If you were healthy, then you had nothing to worry about? Just weird logic.
