    CAMSafe is a CCTV and security video registry aimed at keeping our community safe and assisting police solve crime.

    Think of it like Neighbourhood Watch 2.0.

    The program is set up to be a registry of anyone who owns security cameras, CCTV systems or doorbell cams in the province of Ontario. Only police have access to the database of registrants. Camsafe only requests basic contact information and camera locations – nothing else. No account information or specifics required. And you can change or delete your information at any time.

    We live in a rural area, with little traffic and surrounded by vacant land. We've thought about getting cameras, one for the doorbell so we can see if we need to answer the door or not, and another to figure out who the fuck is eating all my damn vegetables so we can build better fences lol. It's going to have to be self hosted and we sure as fuck are not going to advertise that we have them! Madness, honestly.

    Considering how many "police bodycam" videos are on my YouTube recommendations, it has already been monitored for a while.

    Right now, it is hard to sympathize with the negligent parents, and drunk drivers that make up most of that content; but I think we all know they are just building up to live streaming ICE raids on elementary schools.
