havnt they been facing that already for like a decade, only AI made what little jobs out there impossible to find now. almost everyone i met with a CS had like no jobs , 1+year of searching pre-covid. and thier lack of employment rate seems almost as bad as physics.

    Probably depends on the location. I'm in Toronto, Canada and pre-pandemic anything that moved got a job, even without a degree. That continued till 2022-23 till the mass layoffs started. In a broadar sense however this is similar to the outsourcing wave in the late 2000s to mid 2010s. For many who graduated after 2015 it is a new experience.
