This hacker group is known for extortion. Earlier this year, ShinyHunters acquired the data of 275 million students at 8800 schools through the Instructure Canvas hack. ShinyHunters didn't release the Instructure Canvas data after the ransom was paid by Instructure.

It says that Amtrak didn't pay the ransom and that the Amtrak data was published. A website called "haveibeenpwned" has acquired the Amtrak user data and you can check if you were affected by the hack by entering your email address.
