Belt broke. Not a big deal, it was due. So I ordered the replacement and got my dad to help since taking the deck of is an annoying PITA.

We replaced it, took 20 minutes or so. Go to test it and dad says my blade must be dull as heck. He takes a look and...

Its been nearly two years since I had new mulch blades put on it by a local shop. They put them on goddamn backwards and I didn't notice. I have been beating my grass to death instead of cutting it. Almost 2 years, ughh

Ah. Here we have a shining illustration of the Dork's Universal Law Of Sharpness: The faster it moves, the sharper it gets.

If you swing your sword hard enough, see, it doesn't matter much that it's actually a piece of 1/2" rebar. The same applies to mower (and helicopter!) blades, machetes, manhole lids thrown at meteoric speeds e.g. by tornadoes, etc.

Yah, mower blades are unlike knives in that they really don’t need to be sharp, but just a good edge and they work fine. Mine are a jumble of sharpish edges surrounding the rock divots. Best a flapper disk can do!
