He is a little victim in all this because he can never please anyone, just make enemies. If he says one thing, some will disagree and ban him. If he says something else, then the others will. So in the end, perhaps one should just keep quiet and never say anything? And he is after all not a politician, it wasn't politics that made him famous. He is a musical recording artist, and should be allowed to be just that.

    Genocide is not a “political” issue as you infer. It’s a human tragedy. Nobody wants Ed to get political. They expect him to stand up for human suffering. Most people have the choice to not speak of genocide. This has included Ed. But recent events beyond Ed’s control forced him to take a public side on genocide. He chose to not choose. He both-sidesed. He waffled. He parroted the propaganda that genocide is a “complex political issue” when what it really is: a simple effort to eliminate an entire people. Society, rightly, expects a higher awareness from people who have fame.

    I actually just expected him to stand up for his other tour members being able to speak their mind without a billionaires filter. He didn't have to take any side on the issue.

    Exactly. He could have taken a noncommittal approach focused only on the right for fellow artists to express their beliefs. He would have seemed like an ally and a free speech advocate without actually having to share what his own beliefs on the subject are at all.

    But he didn't do that because he's really a supporter of what Israel is doing in Palestine. He's just too chickenshit to say so directly. It's not about being a poor apolitical artist trying to exist in a fictitious middle ground where you don't take sides. He just doesn't want to share what his beliefs actually are because he knows it'll alienate a good chunk of his audience and doom him to a future where his only live performances are for right-wing political rallies.

    Or he doesn't think and care about it. We have a great capacity to not care about other people. And sure people care now about Palestine but this has been going on for a long time and nobody cared.

    Agreed. Artists should support those who appreciate art, IE, all human beings(and some animals).

    The indiscriminate slaughter of a country with over 50% of the population under age 25 is not political. It's an affront to god and the potential of our species.

    Israel is 1000% responsible for every act of Palestinian aggression. People WILL defend themselves when subjugated, and there's nothing wrong with that.

    Israelis settled land that wasn't there's, and then systematically abused the people that had lived there for centuries. They have always been in the wrong.

    They deserve nothing.

    I am not making excuses, I am saying his fame does not rest on either IQ or politics. It is based on his musical abilities. If you ask him to be a politician, you ask him to be something for which he is not qualified.

    The way the world has become now, I have great pity on those who find themselves unwittingly in the middle between both parties. I see the whole situation as a cause. I like Ted Nugent's music, everybody knows he politically a waco. But some of his guitar playing was really wonderful. Heston was great actor, but politically insane. So is john malkowhich they say. Though i have never heard him say much about current affairs? I dont agree with any of their views? Am I now not allowed to watch their movies and listen classic rock? Edit: i know that Canada is in a very bad place now. I forgot. You see i am not in Canada. But in Europe. Still, i hope a solution is found so that everybody can be themselves again. For good or bad.

    I mean when celebrities have talked out about Israel they have been canceled black balled what ever. It's funny say something bad about the mother land boom say something bad about Palestine nothing happens. So weird wonder why. /s

    What a stupid take. Support genocide and you get criticism from those who oppose genocide. Oppose genocide and you get criticised by those who support genocide. Do you want your fans to think you're a good person or a bad person? It's pretty fucking simple.
