Exactly. He could have taken a noncommittal approach focused only on the right for fellow artists to express their beliefs. He would have seemed like an ally and a free speech advocate without actually having to share what his own beliefs on the subject are at all.

But he didn't do that because he's really a supporter of what Israel is doing in Palestine. He's just too chickenshit to say so directly. It's not about being a poor apolitical artist trying to exist in a fictitious middle ground where you don't take sides. He just doesn't want to share what his beliefs actually are because he knows it'll alienate a good chunk of his audience and doom him to a future where his only live performances are for right-wing political rallies.
