This is definitely a contradiction even if it wasn't intentional. A lot of the CC also have paid jobs in the Party or it's various public facing projects (BTN, PF). Eugene was suspended from Party (volunteer) work but ended in the same office for BTN or whatever work (paid) that Marissa was working in as well on Party work. They used that arbitrary distinction to allow him to continue Party work within days of his suspension for SA.
