Right. But Arizona is on permanent Standard Time. The comment I was responding to claimed Daylight Saving Time is being abolished but it’s a permanent switch to Daylight Saving Time under a new name. Mountain Standard Time (Arizona) matches that of Pacific Daylight Saving Time (BC); if they both switched to Standard or Daylight Saving Time they wouldn’t be on the same hour.

I keep seeing tons of comments like “it’s so good to have permanent morning sunlight” that are just false and I think a big part of that is comments that completely misunderstand the change.

    It’s two different discussions. Any standardizd time is no longer “daylight savings” if it’s the standard time year round. It’s just the time.

    That’s totally separate from the argument that the time in relation to actual daylight can make a difference.

    Thing is, depending on where you are in the zone, it’s going to make a different difference. The reality is that in the summer it’s light when you go to work and light when you get home. In the winter it’s dark when you go to work and dark when you get home. The crossover point in spring and autumn will shift by an hour. People will no longer need to adapt twice a year to doing things an hour later or earlier. Those are the only differences.

    I say this as someone who has a 7-3:30 work day. We can easily adjust when we do things in relation to the clock OR the sun. Switching between two different schedules is the time waster.
