What are the chances this can be used to run android apps on Linux phones?

    Might be possible, but...

Lepton disables various Android services that are not required to run games possibly breaking compatibility with some applications.

Lepton is not designed for general Android use, instead opting to keep the bare minimum functionality required to launch into games.

  • Checking the patches on their repo, it seems it will not be very useful for running bank apps and that kind of stuff on waydroid, maybe if they publish a signed image with all the patches for faking a real android environment, but the patches look like they're fixing only for their hardware/stack.

    Lepton is a waydroid fork.

    So yes, both are.
