It looked like possible mechanic failure given the driver looks like they were struggling to control the car after pitting the suv. Possible damage from the impact, but it would explain the initial sudden swerve.

Also the dashcam truck is driving way too close... good thing noone was on their right side.

    It’s possible but unlikely. They didn’t have a blowout nor hit a pot hole and were going in a straight line.

    Generally a mechanical failure causing the car to turn hard left wouldn’t happen in this situation.

    Could be a snapped tie rod or steering knuckle, causing the wheel to buckle out suddenly with no discernable blowout

    Yeah, that’s what I was imagining. This generally doesn’t happen without a catalyst however.

    The likelihood of preexisting damage and just giving out while driving on straight flat pavement is very low…possible, sure, but very unlikely.
