    Those can make it worse, might depend on the glove though. Pulling fibers out of shredded skin hurts way more and you don't get as much feedback on the oar.

    This only really happens when you first start, once you're grip isn't strangling the oar cuz the boat isn't set and your calluses develop, you're fine

    Honestly pulling ropes isn't any better on the hands. If the wind is steady and you're going with it sure you can relax but the wind is rarely steady for that long.

    They have gloves specifically meant for rowing, though just like with other sports avoiding pain or bodily damage makes you less masculine.

  • Hehe I'm sure there's some of that too. For me that would just be one more thing for me to (mis) manage, which wasn't worth it since my body would figure out these new requirements every year at the beginning of water season anyway. Plus I would have a valid excuse to not do dishes by hand for like a week
