I fucking hate these comparisons. Why don't they compare like with like? How's Cuba doing compared to other Caribbean island countries like Jamaica or Haiti or Dominican Republic? Before the recent escalation of the siege + oil crisis, it sure seems like they were doing a lot better for the essential life things. And that's in spite of a blockade by the biggest trading partner in the region.

    Hell, let's see how Cuba looks compared to Youngstown Ohio, or Camden New Jersey, or Gary Indiana. Hell, let's keep it regional and see how Cuba looks compared to Gulf states like Port Arthur/Beaumont or Galveston Texas, Jackson Mississippi or Mobile Alabama

    Haiti

    Haiti’s been under even harsher oppression from colonial powers than Cuba.

    Okay, fair, that's not a good comparison. I knew they had it bad but I didn't know it was worse than the embargo on Cuba.
