I work from home an if I need to commute I do it by train. So, if nothing goes awfully wrong, I'd say about 1K in maintenance and probably another 2K at the pump (high estimate). It is a small (~80bhp) old diesel, pre-AdBlue, so it is very economical. I sometimes get 900Km from a 50 liter tank.

No LCD screens, no subscriptions, no tracking. Just a car that takes me to places. Is there an equivalent car in the market?

It’s an older type of EV, early Nissan leaf tech, but with battery cooling so it ages a LOT better.

The Chevy volt (I think it’s called amperage overseas) is larger but is a series hybrid. Plug in for 40 miles on battery then the generator kicks in and it’s a regular hybrid. Enormous trunk. Bigger car though.

If you want something like that with a softer suspension and more grown-up feel, consider the Honda clarity plug in hybrid. They were great, my ex had one. They killed them because Honda had no idea how to market what puts a Camry to shame.
