I didn't read their comment that way at all. But I'm also someone who's wary of government overstepping, so I agree with their point that if it's at all possible we shouldn't be detaining people for over a year without s trial.

Imo these kinds of abuses can form a system that is not worth defending. Like yeah I want to be safe, but I'm not willing to pay for that safety by stepping on the rights of others. I believe that just makes more terrorists in the end.
