In social media, DNI specifically means Do not interact. The two types of folks I don't want interacting with me in regards to “saying the things wrong” would be Xeno[glossophobics] & grammarians. E.i., I am fine foreign words&phrases & misspells. People that prohibit others from doing so, simply don’t have to interact with me whatsoever. It saves us both trouble.

    Ah, gotcha. I'm not sure whether you're aware, but it seems like your dni isn't visible to lemmy users, which might increase your workload a little

    Just to be clear, your expectation is that people will click on your username and read your bio before responding to you? How would they know to do that?

    In modern social media, not lemmy, everything in my bio is displayed on my name field. The timestamp being the last thing in the field. Other frontends allow to see the bio just by hovering your select icon over to a name.
    Ideally we would be in OCapN, so I could ignore my DNIs at network level, but that's not where the yard sold are.

    How would they know to do that?

    That's something lemmy users need to ask, not I. Unsure how Dessalines & Nutomic are going to educatevanguard their proles to have basic netiquette.

    It only works on Mastodon and it's derivatives, I think. E.g. on Misskey you'll only see the bio text on hover, no custom fields, thus your profile just looks empty.

    Lemmy is also fundamentally different from these two and the likes, it's a link aggregator, not a social network.

    It's in general pretty weird to expect all ActivityPub implementations to support all the same features. You can never be sure with protocols like these. HTML tags in email messages may be rendered on 95% of the clients, but you are still supposed to include plain text alternatives for all the content because there are clients that don't render HTML.

    “Weird” here meaning “not within the norm of expectations” or something else? Because if it's the former, w3 disagrees with your expectations; including HTML.

    Pretty much. Communities/subreddits/magazines/"whatever they are called on other platforms" are usually defined with the topic that's relevant for it, not with people participating in it. There are fairly obvious exceptions like "ask ", but the overwelming majority will be something like "horses" and you are expected to throw anything horse related there. The way they are named on Lemmy is a bit deceptive, though.

    I am not sure how their social guidelines are relevant for my statement about technical implementations of ActivityPub.
    I'm even less sure on what Open Graph has to do with all of this. Do you add ogp tags to your email messages and expect whatever client renders it to process them somehow? Maybe I'm underinformed, but I'm fairly sure no email client processes these tags in any way.

    If you want me to touch the social part of this, it's probably even more confusing for me.
    I never heard about "DNI" before reading this thread and your definition is far from the first thing that comes up when you look up these three letters.
    Even equipped with this knowledge, reading your profile produces more questions than answers.
    From that "DNI" field the only thing I can say for certain is that you don't want to talk to people younger than 7. Maybe I have an idea on who "Libs" are, but considering other entries there I'm really not sure.
    If that field is supposed to be "read this list, if you belong to one of these groups, don't talk to me", how am I supposed to act on it if I can't even tell what these groups are?

    The amount of confusion it generates makes me want to write it all off as a joke, but you seem to care about it, thus it only makes it more confusing.
