This has been in my wallpaper & random image collection for a while. Unfortunately I forgot the name but I remember that they are tiny in real size, just a millimeter or so. Maybe somebody recognizes them?

    Slime moulds are not in the fungi branch of life? Does that mean they're more closely related to .. um don't know the right words .. vegetables?

    No they are neither fungi, plant or animal. They are single celled organisms so more closely related to amoeba or some algae.
