A man is facing numerous felony charges in Georgia after police allege he allegedly used a bizarre projectile to melt automatic license plate readers into smoldering heaps of metal and plastic.

According to Fox5 in Atlanta, 25-year-old Colby Williams was hauled into jail after allegedly setting fire to three automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) installed by the extremely controversial company Flock.

its been a while since I thought about it, but there was a trend 15 or 20 years ago on the internet for destroying traffic cameras. classic method from then was to hang a tire on them and set fire to it. for instance.

curious as to this novel projectile this guy was using!

    That's ingenious. Well, not the tire fire thing, that's terrible for anyone who breathes. Still, clever.

    My first thought was thermite since it's easy to make and burns through metal, but turning it into a flaming projectile is a whole other matter.

    Ukraine was experimenting with thermite dispensing drones. Haven't seen one in a while. The thermite dropped straight down - spraying it would be a challenging bit of engineering. Woe to anyone who is underneath it!

    If you had a good mix you can ignite reliability it might be possible. But anyone near impact or under it's arc is likely fucked. It would definitely slag the cameras under ideal conditions. Unless you had an inflammable binder that wouldn't hinder the reaction.
