Today's unexpectedly high temperatures on our front porch were brought about by a previously unknown weather phenomenon, "El Gato".

Is this a reference to the cat-like shape in the graph? Or did a cat take a nap on the temperature sensor?

    There was no real cat. That particular sensor seems to read high during the peak temperatures of the day, and likely needs to be replaced.

    Direct sunlight perhaps? Anyway, the sonoff sensors I've bought some weeks ago are great, very recommended and work great in my home assistant setup.

    This is an old z-wave 6 in 1 sensor that was brought out of retirement when we spun up home assistant again.

    It spikes even when not in direct sunlight, so I think it may just be past its prime. We've got plenty of others integrated, and a weather station in the back yard, so this one was more just a case of using a sensor we had laying around then needing to use it.

    Oof, I've made a big detour around z-wave. Not necessarily because it's bad, I just don't use anything where it would make sense. ZigBee/Thread for me.
