I’m not old enough to remember that in 1953 the CIA overthrew the wildly popular prime minister Mosaddegh because he wanted oil proceeds to benefit the people of Iran, not the oligarchs. He was replaced by the Shah, who bloodily suppressed the people and gave the oilmoney back to the oligarchs. And to Britain and the US.
