Also Is Fedora easier to install things like a mainstream VPN than Zorin?

Unless you use drive encryption, you should be able to get it back. https://raspberrytips.com/reset-password-linux/

Even if you use drive encryption, as long as you know that password, you can decrypt the drive and then reset the user password.

True. I just assumed that if you would forget any password, it's probably that one, but on most distros you do have multiple layers ...
