If you pay 1% for one house, someone with 2 houses should pay 2%, and a company with 2000 homes should pay 2000%

That would make it increasingly difficult for mega companies to buy up everything and torture the housing market

No qualms here, have as many as they want. Just pay higher tax.

When you're in a housing shortage, you need to curtail slumlords and AirB&B activity or at the very least take the taxes from those markets to help build more affordable housing.

    there isn't a housing (significant) shortage though, it's people wanting to live in overcrowded hellholes instead of the middle of nowhere.

    Can you guess why some want to live near there work and their kids' school rather than in the middle of nowhere?
