SubLinks was originally written in Java (which is why it caught my interest) and in the link he says that he wants to move to Python. Perhaps I will revisit SubLinks in ~10 years when I have more free time.

    I wonder if that will lose a lot of contributors.

    The bigger changes involve the switching to a microservices architecture. He might do better at that point to integrate with other projects - PieFed/PyLova, Lemmy, Mbin, nodeBB, etc. - rather than build a new competitor to all of them, but that's my thousand mile away view and maybe that is simply impossible or at least really difficult.
