Not only is the government reducing oversight but the companies involved are also willingly reducing their internal systems to below what they already know ensures safety.

    How would they otherwise increase their profits? Think about the poor shareholders if they have to lower their profits to keep people safe. How are the shareholders going to survive without numbers going up.
