it takes SIGNIFICANTLY more water to raise cows for eating/dairy than for lettuce. Why don't we do something about that?

    Amen to that. This question about salad reminds me of the way that almonds in California keep getting all this weird focus. Almonds are hammered on so much that it comes up in casual conversations now.

    I've seriously had people ask me what I thought about this "problem" of water use by almonds when they actually had beef on their plate and/or in their mouths.

    I assume we will.

    The issue isn't which industries will stop functioning. Obviously animal ag will be the first on the chopping block.

    The issue is that the reporter doesn't understand how this works.
