Debian is unable to manage modern dependency trees because they chose not to. It is fucking embrarassing what happens with any "normal and modern" thing in cargo, npm or other cursed repository pulling in 2000 dependencies you have absolutely no hope in being able to vet for malware or stupid bugs. This comes on top of a culture of API instability between one minor version and another.
Debian has their packages and those are tested and inspected in depth, regressions are tested. There are people running debian for a job and we don't want that kind of nonsense.
