We desperately need to be moving off of fossil fuels for fertilizer anyway. Haber-Bosch process is slightly cheaper and portable, but not necessary (and is a huge contributor to global emissions), fertilizer can be made pretty well with renewable energy! I know that still don't make living any easier, but there is at least an upside of being better for the climate.
