You can’t always compare dollar to dollar. You have to see what cost of living and social services are. America is stupidly inflated as I found as I’ve looked overseas.

    Some things simply have no dollar value.

    1. Not getting disappeared for being the 'wrong' colour

    2. Not worrying about your kid being shot at school (or even thinking about guns in general)

    3. Not having to avoid food containing chemicals or made with processes banned everywhere but the USA for health reasons.

    4. Only have to use imperial for bodyweight and height

    5. Little to no anti-piracy enforcement (YAR)

    6. Being smug about not being American

    It is true for the most part but US still pays professions disproportionately high. I looked into moving to Europe as a physician. I can speak...could ...speak Norwegian decently. I thought about moving there and relearning the language, but the salary for my specialty is what nurses get here. I know it isn't all about salary alone but I could work in the US for 5-10 more years and move to Europe and not work ever again and be about even.
