Seriously why. Sonic and the Black Knight was the last one and it was also the last time you could beat the final boss to a kickaas buttrock theme song. Why don't we have this anymore?

Because Sonic 2006 ate shit, and now, Sega is too scared to do anything even resembling it.

    They didn't exactly eject Toyoma Ohtani despite his leading the sound team on that game... I do agree though that the 2006 was kind of the beginning of the end, because it was ammo for the type of people who hated what Sonic games had become since the Dreamcast's launch. Which is sad...

    Sonic 2006 had some good ideas. It was just rushed. If they gave more time to polish it, it would probably be a lot more fondly remembered.

    Nowadays there's an entire subsection of the fanbase committed to the defense of Sonic 2006 and insisting that the media was unfair to it, which I mean I do understand the fondness for it. I'd play it over Colours, Forces or honestly even Generations most times.

    It has the genuine feel of early 3D Sonic. Like it's stupid as hell and seems completely unaware of its own stupidity, and that has quite a bit more charm than the "we're just cartoons, no need to take us seriously" feel of later Sonic.
