Sorry, do you actually think those tariffs are designed to protect American industry? You grow domestic industries over the course of decades with careful, methodical growth. You can't stand up an aluminum plant in 6 months. Canceling and reapplying tariffs every 3 weeks isn't going to encourage anybody to invest significant capex based on an inconsistent trade policy.

    I didnt say it would work- you're right that they will likely be removed before much long-term investment is made. But tarrifs are absolutely designed to protect American industry. America became a manufacturing powerhouse after tarrifs on european goods were imposed in the 1800s.
