I really like it for note taking, especially if I'm trying to design some piece of software (which I keep open in a neighboring window). I use spacemacs because it sets up basically everything I personally want from an editor. Also gives you the choice between Emacs and vim keybinds, in case you have some preference 😊 It has a decent beginners guide too if you don't mind reading documentation
