▲ 48 ▼ Steam Deck owners: does SteamOS have any advantages over Bazzite? (lemmy.ml) submitted 1 week ago by onlooker@lemmy.ml to c/linux@lemmy.ml 24 comments fedilink hide all child comments
[–] mursejoy@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (2 children) I use both. SteamOS on my SD OLED, and Bazzite on a gaming PC. I don’t notice a difference because all I use the machines for is gaming. I eventually moved to Kubuntu from Bazzite because it was easier to manage my media servers. I’m not a huge fan of Bazzite’s quadlet system. But for 99% of my use case the two systems were identical. permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] onlooker@lemmy.ml [S] 2 points 1 week ago Cool, thanks for the feedback! Once I got my deck, I immediately flashed Bazzite on it, for no good reason, honestly. Mostly because it was the hot new thing and wanted to try it out, but in doing so I never even tried SteamOS. Because of this, I was left wondering what was wrong with the original OS, hence this post. I'll probably give SteamOS a whirl later this month just to see. permalink fedilink source parent [–] hirihit640@sh.itjust.works 1 point 1 week ago I'm also not a fan of quadlets, I use docker compose instead.
