I was indoctrinated into loving Pink Floyd by my father, who is a huge fan. I have to be glad about that because of how perfect most of Roger Water's politics are, particularly around Palestine. (www.youtube.com)

pretty typical. its like the one guy in system of a down being a trumper.

edit : apparently they claim he backtracked on such views. and apparently david gilmour used to support palestine, but doesnt anymore. 🤔

    Yeah, but there is the consolation from both Roger Waters and Serj Tankian being the majority songwriters and leaders of the bands during their heyday while having better politics than the others.

    It’s consolation but it’s still pretty disappointing. I saw system last year and I was hoping to get some sort of political rant/statement from Serj but I feel like he’s being held back by the inconsistent politics of his bandmatss

    I saw SOAD years ago, when they were touring for Toxicity, like 2002 or so. I don’t recall Serj making any statements or going on any rants back then, either. The way they ended the show was kind of strange too: they walked off stage immediately after performing the encore. House lights came on before they’d fully made it backstage. Background music played over the house speakers as well. Whole crowd was caught kind of off-guard, we all hesitated for a couple minutes before we figured out it was over.

    MSI and Clutch opened. My girlfriend at the time didn’t care for MSI but hey, I get it, they’re not for everyone. We’ve been married 19 years now, Sugar is still her favorite SOAD song.

    Former band mates. They openly despise each other and don't work together, and I think Gilmour has called Waters an antisemite, etc.

    Waters is very famously an unbearable PoS. His politics are good, but he is a nightmare to work with. I don't know much about Gilmore's politics, but I'm positive that his refusal to work with Waters is entirely personal.

    I know Waters is an asset, but I don't think Gilmore has taken up the mantle of Zionism just to be contrarian.

    Do you have anything about Gilmour being a Zionist? All I can find are Zionist rags saying he is anti-Israel, which is effectively meaningless, but that doesn't scream Zionist to me.

    He was calling Waters an anti-semite for criticism against Israel and being pro-palestine.

    Yeah he does seem like a bit of a psycho, good politics notwithstanding. Remember when he was getting cancelled a couple of years ago and he kept doing the same speech that culminated in him pretending to cry lol
