meanwhile in sweden: "sorry folks we have to wait for the express train to pass us"

I LOVE TURNING EVERY SINGLE RAILWAY INTO A HIGH SPEED RAILWAY AND LEAVING LOCAL SERVICES TO ROT, YAAAAAAY

Meanwhile in the US: "sorry the one train scheduled for today was 3 hours late but now we have to wait 45 minutes for the oversized freight train to pass because the rails are privately owned and they get priority. Stop complaining. At least there's a train for you to take at all."

Yeah we Europeans love to complain about our trains. I mean, have you heard about Deutsche Bahn xD

But at least we have trains *laughs in non-american

at least we have trains if you live near a sufficiently large city, otherwise enjoy the 4 hour bus ride

Ah yes, the amazing bus service which is different in every region in Sweden right? Which can be suuuuper nice for foreigners like tourists and exchange students too in some places like Linköping where you can only buy a ticket if you have a Swedish bank account and address. Otherwise no bus ride for you!

indeed! also, have fun finding and downloading the right app, then figuring out what fucking ticket you need, and if you get it wrong you have to pay 100 bucks extra :)))))))))))))))))))))))) but it's NOT a fine it's an additional charge!!! stop calling it a fine it's not a fine!!!!

Oh and like one route connecting each region to each neighbouring region, because that's literally illegal by default and they need exceptions to be allowed to run buses over the region borders :))))))) also said route runs 3 times per day

Some politicians have proposed turning the entire country into a single public transport zone and it's never gonna happen but i'm praying so fucking hard for it to happen anyways

We're only allowed to fine you once, so if we don't call this a fine we so can charge you twice as this one will be an additional charge and the other will be a fine. We call this smart thinking :)

FFS 🤦

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
